Hi, if those who have read my other posts "updated, blah blah" then u will kind know more. First here is my question and then I will explain the sitution. We need a special clinic, we live in Arkansas. Does anyone have any suggestions? Ok now here is what's went on last evening and today. The last paragraph is most relevant to the title

After talking with nurse for imd this is what I remember. She said that other than a viral infection she coudn't figure out what was wrong with him, and that she was sorry she couldn't be of more help. That she wanted to refer him to the neuro in her words "back to where he came from"! She doesn't want to see him anymore! That is so odd, anyone have any ideas. Oh and she still WILL NOT refer big clinic. I mean flat refuses. I said you realize that the neuro isn't interested in being our pcp, that's why she wanted us to see you and that she has told us several times that she won't refer, (but yet she's the one who recommended it) Finally i asked the nurse, "on a personal level, we won't bother you again, but in your opinion what would you do if you were us" she said "on a personal level, in my opinion, I would get a second opinion from a primary care physician." We are left with nothing.....

Then I called Neuro this morning and her office said that she WAS going to make the referral to the scott white clinic. She said it was in Texarcana. She said to call back tomorrow morning and talk with the lady that does the referrals. Well, I got anxious and wanted to find out what the scott white clinic was. Guess what? They don't have one in texarkana. I have looked & looked. The only scott & white places are in central texas! So I got to the scotty white site and go to locations.... again same thing. So I get there number and call them, just to make sure and she said that they don't have one in texarkana.

When the neuro nurse told me about the clinic she said that it was better than UAMS, that neuro doctor preferred scott & white in "texarkana" Well, UAMS is twice as close..... So now, should does any one have any suggestions or comments?

When this first started he went to the emergency room. Then we found a family doctor to refer us to a neurologist and ordered an mri of the brain (which was clear), then the neurologist said we needed to see an Internal Medicine Doctor to tests for metabolic issues. The internal medicine doctor took one blood tests that only checked hematology and also tested for hepatitis, said she didn't know what was wrong with him and wanted us to go back to neurologist. Well, neurologist "referred" us to scott & white clinis that is suppose to be located in texarkana. I am suppose to find out more about that tomorrow, but while I was waiting I got online to see the place we would be sent to next. They don't even have on in texarkana according to google, scott & white Home page then locations, and a phone call to scott & white. So, now I'm left wondering what's going on. The only other "Big" place is UAMS in Little Rock Arkansas, but the nurse for neuro said that patients hasn't come back happy from UAMS and they've had better luck with Scott & white.

Could this be a misunderstanding? That there is one there? I don't think so. Maybe she just thought there was one there, but hasn't actually referred anyone there yet. Hope this explains the sitation better. By the way, our emergency room sucks. IF your not actually dying when you go, they dont want to mess with you. What I wish is that someone would admit him to a good hospital and run all the tests on him till they get it right. But that's probably not going to happen huh?

something strange

The neuro is going to refer, they want the scott white clinic (which I had never heard of before) so I called them this morning to ask for information about the scott white clinic "in texarkana" so I ask for the number, she gives it to me. She also asks if I'm going to call it. I said "uh- I don't know I just wanted to have it". Then I called them, and it is in temple texas. I ask them if they have a clinic in texarkana they say no. Well, I said the neuro is suppose to refer us there and I need directions how to get there. She said call information, (which I already had) I said I did that and they don't have a listing. She said we don't have one in texarkana. I was like ok. Thanky you. So I call neuro back and said "I called the number to get directions and they inform me there isn't a clinic in Texarkana so I called information and there isn't a listing there either." I said "I'm not trying to be a nusuance, but I wouldn't want her to go through all that trouble of making an apponintment if it's too far to drive" she said "I understand, there use to be one in texarkana and they might have closed it." I said the closest one is in Waco, tX. She said I believe temple is closer, it should only be a 3 hour drive. So while on the phone with her I pull up the map on google, and see that waco & temple are further south than dallas, which is a 5 hour drive and that waco is indeed closer!! She says she will call them and find out and call me back. How can this get so messed up? Before they told us that they referred to scott white clinic. Well, if that's true then why don't they know where it's at?
