The MS society has taken a stance that aspartien (SP?) has nothing to do with this disease. Who knows? I think it has something to do with those of us (some of us) which were vacinaated with the hepatitis vaccine. Any thoughts on this?

I just thought here is another neuro prescribing minocycline as a treatment.

On the FDA website a few years back, I found info on the hepatitis vaccine. It was a symposium of world renowned infectious disease Doc's. It said that they knew that some people with a predisposition to a demyelinating disease would then develop a demyelinating disease after being vaccinated with the hepaitits vaccine, but the benefit-risk ratio was still such that everyone should be vaccinated. I had my first ms symptom about 2-3 years after I was vacccinated the first time. It was a series of 3 vaccines, and becasue I kept forgetting to get the 3rd one, they (the hospital where I worked) would make me start all over, so I have the first 2 series several times. Never did get the third, but I have the antibodies, so I am protected. It is mandatory for chilren in the state of Florida to have this vaccine. I had to fight tooth and nail to keep my daughter in public school without this vaccine, and I am sure it is going to be a problem again when she goes to college, but I will not allow her to have this one. I will try and find that info and post it if I do.

Given all the buzz about drug companies, and not because I know anything at all about aspartame or the vaccines, I thought people might find information from a recent local publication (Healthy Living July/August 2004) interesting.

In order to refute this categorical dismissal of many well crafted studies.......the results of 164 studies using MEDLINE and other databases were analyzed to examine the role that industry funding plays in skewing the results of aspartame research. Almost all of the studies that found a problem with aspartame (83 out of 90) were non-industry funded. On the contrary, all 74 of the industry-sponsored studies reported no dangerous findings with aspartame.

So goes the local beat on drug companies and aspartame.

Just kinda makes ya shake ya head doesnt it..

Yeah, really shake my head.

You know there was a big story yesterday too about last week's revised guidelines (US) for taking statins and who was on whose payroll so to speak. All sorts of apologies about financial disclosures, not just of the docs who did the research with drug company money, but also implicating some feds and charitable "heart" organizations.

It should be easier to get at the truth, or, so it would seem.
