Hi folks, I've been wondering about posting this for a while but reluctant to do so as it seems a little odd. For a couple of months I have have an odd sensation in my right leg, usually when i'm sitting. It feels like a strong pulse beat and only lasts for a second or so. I can get a few in quick succession or only one a day. The leg itself doesn't move. Bizarre. I'm on the Lamotrigine study for SPMS and this seems to have started at around the same time I started on the medication (or the placebo as the case may be). Its the leg marred by foot drop that's affected. The neuro monitoring me for the study had no answers. Is it just another weird ms sensation I have to learn to live with?? Any ideas?

Muu, I've had that sensation too. Sometimes I get it in my arms also. I guess I've pretty much got used to it though because I only notice it occasionally. It seems to occur when I have over-used the muscle, i.e. driving or walking or lifting. Is that when you have the sensation? I know when you have foot drop even walking a few steps can seem like an effort.

i get that in my hands, which are the remaining victims of sensory loss. it feels like a quick series of beats, lasts for less than a minute usually, but then will come back again. hasn't happened in a while. i kind of felt as if it was the nerves struggling to connect hehehe.

also recently i get something going on my feet that is sort of like pins and needles, except it feels more like my blood is carbonated. it is so weird! sorry i don't have any really good thoughts on what it was caused by.

Thanks Scooby & Jimmy. Hearing that you both have had similar experiences is reassuring as I felt like a bit of a nutcase when i explained it to my dr. It's true that it tends to happen more once I've used the leg or if i've been sitting for a long period. I wondered if it was a nerve impulses that had been affected by partial demyelination.
My footdrop is not too bad- some days hardly noticeable (yeah, yeah) I wear a support and that prevents trips which used to be a nightmare.

I too have these weird sensations. Mine occur all over my body, at any time of the day, but mostly at night after I lay down. It is like my body is trying to play music without a melody, but lots of weird rythem.
I also get them in my tongue, and ears,(sounds like a base drum). the tongue is always in the day time, and the ears are always at night.
These are an every day, every night thing.
I have not been DX'ed with MS yet my symptons just started about a year ago. I have had all kinds of tests and all havve come back neg. but I could write a book on what my body gos through on a dailey bases.

When I discussed these sensations to my oesteopath and also a pulling sensation I sometimes feel in the leg, he felt pretty confident that it was caused by sciatica. This may be true as after a session of manipulation and general bone crunching and when I do my exercises I feel it less. It's also true that I feel it more in certain positions eg. sitting at the computer! Teckla, you seem to have it all over! I hope you resolve what's going on soon and that it's not ms.
