A little more on what / how they technically effect the immune system to not attack. I found this site (that are actually out to kill them, but hey....)

We have identified secreted proteins of the human hookworm, Necator americanus, which bind specifically to Natural Killer cells and no other cell type. Moreover, these proteins induce NK cells to secrete high levels of IFN- , an intriguing finding given the absence of a pronounced Th2 response (usually associated with immune clearance of helminths) in human hookworm infections. Future work in this area will explore the effects of hookworm secretory products on the inability of humans to mount protective immune responses to this pathogen. We will also purify the NK cell-binding protein, identify its NK cell receptor, and explore its potential as a pro-inflammatory adjuvant and specific marker for NK cells.

Cureo, great link. Bob, in your other thread you said that everything you're learned about MS sort of supports the parasite theory. Can we throw stuff at you, see if it bounces? (or whatever that expression is)
Lets accept parasites. How does that explain RR, why do people have "attacks" of immune overactivity? Why do those attacks gradually disappear and replace by the steady, relentless decline of PP?
(I think cureo and I should be first guiness pigs on this)

I guess my problem is that even if parasites provide to be immuno-suppressant, or even better, immuno-modulatory, they're only going to address the part of MS that is all the pharmas currently address.. Thats not insignificant, and if parasites do it better than the pharmas it might slow progression of the disease to the point that you can easily outlive it. Yeah, I could live with that. But neurodegeneration, the process that carries the second act of the disease, the PP part, it isn't caused by immune system, it seems to happen in parallel with auto immune attacks and despite any suppression/modulation. I think that does matter, its the black hole, it worries me more than the thought of my gut wriggling with worms ever would.
