Too much vitamin D bad for you?

I have been taking 4,000 IUs a day for years but I wondered if the accumulation of so much D is toxic. I urge you all to read this carefully:

It's actually on chronic fatigue but there is a lot of great info on this site. If you feel more tired than ever after years of being on vitamin D, then maybe you need to pull back a little.

I stopped taking 2,000 units per day and backed down to 1,000 units because I was getting some weird buzzing electric sensations in my head as if a seizure was about to start. I have never had a seizure before but this was scary enough. It was like an electrical wave in my head that made me dizzy and almost paralyzed me each time for a few seconds. Too scary. It stopped as soon as I stopped the high dose. I was afraid my calcium metabolism or neuronal influx was gone crazy. Now, all is well. Carole

think it's best to take d3 with calcium and magnesium. glad the buzzing stopped for you c. i've never had a problem even with 4000IU per day (or the brief 10,000IU per day stint) but i always always take calcium and magnesium at the same time.

I have taken D3 since even before I began the abx regimen, at 4000 iu a day, sometimes more, and like Jimmy I have never had any trouble. I do always take calcium and magnesium, though not necessarily at the same time and I certainly don't feel more tired from taking it.

my liquid cal-mag-d3 has
600mg calcium,
300mg magnesium, and
400IU D3

so i have assumed that's a good ratio. however, if you multiply all that by 10 to get up to 4000 IU D3, i really don't think you'll easily find supplements with 6000mg calcium and 3000mg magnesium.

when i was on the liquid d3 i just put my 10,000IU, then later dropping to 4000IU, drops into a spoonful of the 600/300/400 liquid without worrying about the ratio too much.

i have been really slack with the supplements lately so that i could get some semi-baseline bloodwork done, gotta get back in the saddle when i get my lab results back! then i started having a problem with dysphagia so had to get some magnesium in there to fix it and that just rolled the calcium and d3 back into the regimen automatically.

i'm still being lazy compared to before - i just take two cal-mag pills and one 1000IU D3 pill, when i bother, to keep my throat working more than anything.

my cal-mag pills (they have zinc as well) are just jamieson brand that were around the house anyway,
333mg calcium,
167mg magnesium,
20mg zinc.

sorry, i dont feel like that was very helpful!! i will look into the ratio info more when this semester is over. hectic.
