Solu-Medrol v/s Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)

We're on Novantrone now and the Neuro is prescibing IVIG instead of Solu-Medrol for an exacerbation. we're only familiar with Solu-Medrol.

Can you help us know what to expect?

Thanks, napay

IVIG and MS

Expect to have more residual symptoms left.
This treatment theoretically could be used in MS if patients do not respond to steroids (which is unlikely), IVIG is better suit for Guillain-Barre syndrome treatment (but still not so effective anyway).
In couple of studies the effect of IVIG treatment on sustained progression of disability was not positive, total number of exacerbations & change in total T2-weighted MRI lesions load during the IVIG and placebo periods were similar.

Personal advice: change your doctor.

Kind regards,
Tony
