Hi Terry,

I just wanted to add my two cents worth to this discussion.

Like you, I'm still fairly new to MS. I was diagnosed back in January of this year, when I had my first exaspiration . I was a 6.5 - 7 then and have recovered to a 1 - 1.5 (I think, based on self-assessment) In retrospec, I had blurry vision when I got hot for about 5 years before my first exaspiration). My main symptoms now are numbness and weakness on the left side, blurry and/or double vision when tired or overheated, and the famous MS hug.

I wouldn't focus on the freckle angle either. Like Loobie, I also have dark hair and eyes, tan easily, and do not have freckles.

A holistic approach is great and by all means use it if you are comfortable with it. But don't let your first experience with a neuro turn you off to western-style meds. I'm on Rebif myself. If your first neuro didn't please you, keep looking till you find one that works well with you. I'm in that process myself now. The National MS website has lists of MS clinics around the country. Be sure to check your regional chapter website as well.

As for testing, I strongly recommend a yearly physical. Remember, just because we have MS we're not immune to other health problems. Talk over your concerns with your regular doctor and have him or her add any additional tests needed to address them. I have a yearly physical, and am otherwise quite healthy. As I joke with my primary care doc, I'm the healthest sick guy in Charlotte.

I would also like to echo what Ally said, MS is very unpredictable (God knows it surprised the hell out of me). I like to think of it as an adventure, because you never know what your next challange is going to be. So my last piece of advice is, and please excuse me for pontificating, but every morning when you wake up, and you feel half way decent, get up and go for as much as you can - live every day to fullest, and be happy.

Take care of your self, and never hesitate to ask a question here, chances are, someone here will have had an experience that they can relate to it.

Jack

AC,

Thanks for the info on the sun lamp. I had read about another company, Sperti, that also makes the lamps. My husband has a lot of trouble with sleeping and his Vitamin D is low (even with vitamins).
