I know that this question has been asked before so I thought I'd post an answer. According to the newest issue of the NMSS magazine the Red Cross now accepts blood from those dxed with MS since there is no evidence it is trasmitted via blood. It also says that most medications taken for chronic illnesses won't disqualify a donor. Just thought I'd share.

Yes, thanks! I have always wanted to, but have been told no. I'm also an organ donor. Do you know anything about that?

missvicki, I'm not sure about organ donation. I can't seem to find a straight answer. What I've read pretty much says that the doctors will make the decision of what organs can be donated depending on their condition at the time of death. I guess that means that even those with chronic illnesses might be considered for some organ donation. I hope so because I strongly believe in organ donation and I know there is quite a shortage compared to demand. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
