I was quite amazed by the pictures from the new scanners, see:

But then today, I read this:

I think we'll wait for another MRI, thanks....

My neuro wants me to go in for some kind of advanced research MRI that I don't even have to pay for(through insurance of course) Maybe I should look into what it is first.

I would go ahead and get your MRI.

MRI's and CT scans are done on different machines. The CT scan uses an xray beam while the MRI uses radio waves and a magnetic field. There is little to no risk to the patient with the MRI.

If you want further information, "Google" the words MRI CT scans. You will be able to get a detailed scientific explanation.
