Very interesting article. Steinman has been researching the protein and genetic elements in MS for years. There are a lot of links to other discoveries he and his team have made in the last 17 years that look like possible future treatments.

I am wondering if this Lawrence Steinman is related to Charles Steinman. I am guessing that Lawrence Steinman is Charles' son. A lot of nepotism in science, but no big deal. Charles Steinman had some interesting findings back in the 70's & 80's related to lupus. I think Charles Steinman's findings about specific auto-antigens were very pertinent but the importance wasn't realized at the time.

Here is the BBC story on this research.

I contacted one of my neuros to find out his view. He said it was a top team who had undertaken this work and was good news.
