My first race on Copaxone

Today I ran my first race, a 5K, while on Copaxone. I noticed no difference between now and my last race prior to the beginning of my treatment. My legs don't feel quite the same as they used to(years ago) but it could just be lack of training. I ran to a third place finish overall(out of 170) around 19:00 on a hilly and windy course.

I had, and have on training runs, the most trouble with uphills which is frustrating because they used to be my strength. All in all though I cannot complain!

Congrats, Matt!
That's a wonderful accomplishment. The Copaxone won't really make a difference in your running abilities, it wasn't created to heal axonal damage...but it will hopefully keep a relapse at bay, and help you maintain your level of mobility.

My husband has been on Copax over a year, and he's still able to get around pretty well. No 5ks in his immediate future, but walking 4 miles with the dog is a blessing for us!
best,
AC

The reason I mention the Copaxone and my running is just because originally they wanted me to be on Rebif or Betaseron which would have really put me in a bad position. Even if I can't run I still need to be up and about, the flu-like symptoms and fatigue are not thing I could deal with. That's just why I'm so happy I'm able to continue my life whilst on Copaxone.
