MS hug?

Anyone ever have a MS hug? This was one of the first symptoms of a flare up. It all started with a little numbness in the toes and feet. Then it moved up one leg. To the point that I could walk but wasn't sure were my feet where. Then it skipped over my waist line and went from my belly button to under my chest. Now when it got that far is when it got really interesting. It was numb but also every muscle in my rib cage felt contracted. Almost like someone had a sheet tied around me and it kept getting tighter. This was my first stay in the hospital. Scared to death. Way before any Dx. I had no idea what was going on. Luckily I have a good Dr. and he knew. I stayed for five days even though I don't think all of that was neccisary. I recieved the ol steroid treatment to recover and it worked. Has anyone else had this? thanks arti

I get the hug, but it shows up around my torso. Feels like a too tight tshirt.

Yeah, it depends on the day it seems. I don't know if it's related to my neck somehow, or how I sleep, but I can go days without this, and then one day wake up, and I'm dealing with the hug all day, next day when I wake it may or may not be gone.

Haven't had it recently, but since I just posted that, watch me get it tomorrow ;)

Yep, also have it - got it bad during a relapse in Feb 2007, and it has never really been gone. Most of the time, it is a little deadening of sensation together with a tight feeling, around rib cage, but I often get muscle spasms or cramps in this area, especially if I turn or reach for something, and it is a difficult area to work out a cramp! Ver painful and a bit scary as the pain is immediate and very intense...

Nice disease

i had it in my dx episode. never since, although maybe my issues with breathing last year were related. i sort of decided my trouble getting a proper breath might have been muscular???

This was one of the symptoms of my first and secound flare up but my dx came much later. Funny how many on here got an almost instant dx after mri and lumbar pucture. As for me my dr went thru a whole list of other stuff before he said ms. I think I was missing a certain marker in my spinal pucture that signaled ms. He went from transverse mylitus(sp) to devics, then finally ms. Man I wish I didn't have this crap. Guess it could be worse, I could be ugly and have ms :D . just a joke there Homeskillet.

I get the hug as well. In me my chest gets really tight, almost like someone is standing on it. That was one of my symptoms in the last two or so months before my first exacerbation. Now stress seems to bring it on.

Yeah, I haven't had the hug in a while. I was more stressed back then, you're probably right about that Geo. Now I'm keeping things stress free to avoid anything coming back :)
