Terry I do not know how reasonable this is but you can get 4-aminopyradine at the compounding pharmacy with a prescritpion and this is a potassium channel blocker. It does improve the heat sensitivity for me.

It makes me feel tingly and wierd too, but I definitely take it when I have a big day that I need to be firing on all pistons. Travel is one time I choose to use it...

All I know about heat is that it sucks. I'm already looking forward to the fall.

I've been reading through this thread and thought I'd put my experience in here. If I get overheated I lose control of my left leg and get wobbly and dizzy as if I have a buzz from drinking too much alcohol. Last summer my family went on a vacation to Disney World in mid-July to celebrate my triplet's 5th birthday. The nurse from my neurology clinic gave me some tips to keep my core body temp down without doing anything to expensive. She said to freeze water bottles (1 pint size) and when hot tuck them under your armpits. The lymph nodes there will be cooled and will help bring down your body temp. Take a small freezeable ice pack (frozen of course) like kids put in their lunch boxes. Wrap it in a bandana and place it on the back of your neck and tie it in front to keep your core body temp down. She also said placing one under a ball cap on your head would help. Also drink plenty of fluids to keep hydrated. Unfortunately that doesn't include the alcoholic kind. I did all these things but I did drink a couple of beers and had minimal problems in 95 degree FL heat. Getting overheated to the point that my symptoms appear causes me extreme fatigue for about a day after. This kept the fatigue to a minimum also.

Have fun on your trip!

Hi all,
I am back from my Florida trip, and I had no problem with the heat. I swam when too hot and really had no problem at all. I never realized how beautiful it is there, and Arti, I read your alone time post, and I had lots of that through the week, It was wonderful. I'd take my morning coffee to the the water's edge and sit in the sand and watch and listen. Wow.
I have much reading to do to get caught up here, but in the meantime, I hope all of you are well.

So glad you had a good time and the heat didn't get to you. It is nice to relax like that, isn't it?

Lori,
My vacations have been few and far between. I was in Clearwater many years ago, but this trip was amazing. A good location, good food, good drink, good company. I have to say, I envy you living there. It is back to work for me tomorrow. I'd rather be at the beach!

I think to a point. I know if I do things that get me hot then my syptoms get worse. I also had my most recent relapse during a heat spell here. Tbh I don't really know tho.

Yes, definitely. When I get too hot I have what I think of as a pretend relapse. The usual symptoms, just for a day.

I used to be mad for sauna, now I can't go any more. Last time I went I slept all afternoon afterwards, weak as a newborn kitten.

I try not to get too hot, but this week we had a heat wave here in Southern Germany, well over 35C. Nothing you can do about it, since we don't have AC in the house or at the office. So yesterday I was wobbling all over, knocking stuff over, and could not speak German - strange, cause normally I can. But today it is just 30C and I'm fine again. I have a ventilator here on my desk, a real life saver. And before I go to bed I have a lukewarm shower and hop into bed still wet, gets me to sleep, but I wake up when I warm up again, despite open doors and windows.

Sunday was so hot I just sat under a tree all day, drinking water and doing Sudoku. Actually very pleasant.

I used to like hot tubs - the last time I got in one I had to get out and throw up because it made me feel so ill!
