Matt,

I'm really sorry you are going through this. It is never easy. I would definitely recommend seeing your doc and possibly seeing if you can get some counselling (but then i would, I'm a counsellor). AD's can be really helpful to kick start you again, I was v reluctant and went on them for about 9 months which really helped pick me up again.

Try not to let it break your confidence. You are a great guy. I hope things get easier for you.

Take care

Lynda, no worries. I think it effects people differnt. Im mild manored and it is just making me less stressed. I worry about things there is nothing to worry about.

Thank you for your concern! Someone cares! lol

Well, I will agree, it is not the MS that can drive a partner away, it is more likely the depression. I came that close to leaving my husband, just to preserve my own sanity....but I am pretty determined to never leave anyone, but that doesn't make staying easier.
A few things he did to improve himself:
He got some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (at a cut rate price as we were both not earning)
He moved to a place he felt comfortable.
He saw the doctor once he was there and started Prozac...and I think that did help.
He started listening to some Paul McKenna hypnotism dvds, which sort of helped him to fall asleep at night.
He started to do something structured, whether it be cleaning the house or taking a course.
He finally got back to doing his old work in a new position (which was not an easy place to work!!).
It was not easy!! It took a year almost to turn around, and I am so glad it is over.....
Now he is at another new place of work which he loves and is himself again. I really feel it was a physical symptom of his MS...plaques on the brain, that caused this depression, and the inability to handle stress.
If you are still fit, you should definitely take up yoga...try not to lose your core....
There's no point in saying snap out of it, because if you are depressed you just think nothing's possible...but do try to do the above.

Just a quick update: I've been doing better lately. My g/f moved out and I took some time off of work to reconnect with old friends and stay with some family. I've talked to a lot of people about the situation, got put on Wellbutrin, and even though it's only been two weeks I feel like I have more positive outlook on things. I'm still upset about the break up things but I have little reasons to believe that it may not be too late to save my relationship. It's going to take a while but I think if I can make some of these changes and put some ideas I came up with concerning being depressed/occupying my time that things will turn out for the best.
