I'm not sure what to think about Obama but I guess my opinion is irrelavent since I don't live in the states anyway! It sounds like his wife could do a lot to raise MS awareness and hopefully funds and that is important!

I was touched by her speech. That's just what we need. To get the word about MS out there. From who ever where ever when ever. Maybe the gov. will get serious about funding to find a cure. It's just a word until it strikes you or your home.

If Obama becomes president, our taxes will rise. National healthcare will never come about due to the cost of it, and MS will likely never become a larger issue with the government.

If McCain becomes president, our taxes won't rise. Healtcare won't really be on the agenda, and MS will likely never become a larger issue with the government.

I totally agree with you about taxes and health care. Health care is a good topic when running, but the cost will prohibit it from becoming realty.

The main thing that speaking about health insurance for every one does is get more votes from the uninsured for whichever candidate sounds most believable on the topic.

It all comes down to selling the dream. That's their job now. Getting votes. I just liked getting MS out there. Someone is looking MS up today.

Exactly, Chris. That was why I posted the link in the first place...everyone has a differing political view- but one thing we can all agree on is that MS has deeply affected our lives. Michelle Obama understands this. And the people that heard her speak might just get it, too.

Sorry for getting a tad cynical. You are correct. Getting awareness about MS out there is a very good thing.

I just hate the bs that goes along with political campaigns.

Although I am right-leaning in my politics, I am very aware that both sides promise and say dumb things to get elected. Of course, that is a much different topic than this thread was about and I apologize for my political cynicism

There have been a lot of posts across the spectrum of MS groups hoping if Obama gets elected that MS research will be helped.

In my opinion, no disease will be singled out for extra funding by any administration because people with the thousands of other diseases would have a field day blasting the incumbent.

As far as getting MS in the limelight, it will last about 30 seconds after the speech except for those of us who have it.

I agree about the BS of politics and have decided after all of these years that nothing is going to change, so I just ignore most of the blather.

Like an earlier post of yours referred to, the main difference between the two candidates is how much money they want to take out of our bank accounts and I think Obama will snatch more.

I don't think either candidate will do much of anything to help MS patients.

Barack is a gamble, but its a gamble I'm willing to take considering the last 8 years have been a disaster. I voted for Bush twice, both times because I didn't like the democrat running. I am not proud of my choice at all. I am sorry america... Good thing I wasn't the only one that made that mistake, or else I'd feel really bad
