Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew if getting a Hepatitis shot will aggrevate MS. I have a job that might include an extra duty helping someone use bathroom facilities. If I end up with this extra duty they want me to get a hepatitis shot. If this will aggrevate my MS I will politely decline this extra duty. I have not been put in a situation like this since I have been dx. I have avoided any sort of immune altering shot ever since I was dx.

i got my first last and only hepatitis shot 2 weeks before dx.
so that i could travel.
i was paranoid about it, actually to the point of tears, and got the lowest amount of "protection" that would allow me to travel.
these types of shots are not covered under my health care program and they tried to sell me two additional hep shots over and above what i finally succumbed to.
2 weeks later (after a fall where i whacked my head) i was lying in an MRI machine and ultimately had to cancel my trip.
could have been a total coincidence, but i feel instead as if that shot was one of the last straws on the poor camel's unhappy spinal cord! that said, there was far more damage done by the chronic b12 deficiency, and the vaccine was if anything a small percentage of the problem.

with all that said, i was such a mess it was an accident waiting to happen. different story after 3 years of smartening up!
have you done much to regulate your immune system since dx, such as lifestyle/diet/meds/supplementation modifications?
if so you may not need to worry too much.

I have tried to take care of myself since dx. I am on Copaxone and try to live a healthy lifestyle. I just don't want to kick my immune system into overdrive by having a hepatitis shot. Having any immunizations worry me. Healthwise I have been doing good lately.

I would like to thank those who responded to my post. I appreciate your advice.

My husband was advised by a French neuro, not to have a hep B inoculation...it is accepted in France that this could be a trigger for MS.

Vaccinations and the Risk of Relapse in Multiple Sclerosis

Background
There has been some concern that vaccination may precipitate the onset of multiple sclerosis or lead to relapses. Since the recent hepatitis B vaccination program in France, there have been new reports of an increased risk of active multiple sclerosis after vaccination.
Methods
We conducted a case–crossover study to assess whether vaccinations increase the risk of relapse in multiple sclerosis. The subjects were patients included in the European Database for Multiple Sclerosis who had a relapse between 1993 and 1997. The index relapse was the first relapse confirmed by a visit to a neurologist and preceded by a relapse-free period of at least 12 months. Information on vaccinations was obtained in a standardized telephone interview and confirmed by means of medical records. Exposure to vaccination in the two-month risk period immediately preceding the relapse was compared with that in the four previous two-month control periods for the calculation of relative risks, which were estimated with the use of conditional logistic regression.
Results
Of 643 patients with relapses of multiple sclerosis, 15 percent reported having been vaccinated during the preceding 12 months. The reports of 94 percent of these vaccinations were confirmed. Of all the patients, 2.3 percent had been vaccinated during the preceding two-month risk period as compared with 2.8 to 4.0 percent who were vaccinated during one or more of the four control periods. The relative risk of relapse associated with exposure to any vaccination during the previous two months was 0.71 (95 percent confidence interval, 0.40 to 1.26). There was no increase in the specific risk of relapse associated with tetanus, hepatitis B, or influenza vaccination (range of relative risks, 0.22 to 1.08). Analyses based on risk periods of one and three months yielded similar results.
Conclusions
Vaccination does not appear to increase the short-term risk of relapse in multiple sclerosis.

If anyone is still reading this thread, thimerosol is still in these damn vaccines and yes it will harm you.

I have MS as a result of mercury poisoning by my dental amalgams. 10 days after that Hep B shot I had clinic MS.

I had 8 dental amalgams for probably 20-25 yrs. I have been chelating out the mercury, for almost a year now and doing well. You need to take lots of supplements to increase your cellular nutrition to fight the free radicals from the nasty, vile mercury.

So...if you have amalgams - look no further. Find a bio dentist to remove them, safely chelate with Andy Culter's protocol and in time you will heal.
