Hi All,
Does anyboby have seizure type episodes but are aware of what is going on?
For me i have had many seizure like episodes where my eyes will close and i feel like i am almost asleep. Sometimes i will shake a bit other times I will violently shake, and if people are talking to me i know what they are saying but i cannot communicate effectively with them. If they were to ask me to squeeze their hand i can do this, but very weakly. If they ask me to open my eyes i can briefly but they always close again. I have never lost bladder control and have always been aware of what may be going on around me. If i try to talk my speech is very slurred and difficult to understand. I am wondering if anybody else has had these sort of episodes?

I have had them. They may be anxiety driven. Best bet is have an eeg done to make sure it's all OK.

I don't think they are anxiety driven as i have had them when just sitting watching tv, relaxing, and nothing to be anxious about. Besides which they last for way too long to be an anxiety attack.

Hi Scotty its me again,
I am going through a very similiar experience and the mds keep telling me they don't know what I'm talking about. I get arm seizures that are now moving up to my head , to the other arm, down my back...the pain is unbelievable.
The doc gave me neurontin...an anti seizure medication. it does work to an extent but makes me sleepy.
Last night I looked over my file because I am not satisfied with the answers I'm getting. The first neuro I saw years ago for my "arm attacks" thought I had a "movement disorder". That diagnosis was forgotten once I entered MS land. I decided to review his chart notes and I found the BEST web sit for siezures called WEMOVE. There are very detailed definitions and some of the movement disorders are explained by video with mimes acting this out.
I've diagnosed myself with one of the disorders. These movement disorders can be secondary to ms. I think that means that the ms brings them on but they are treated differently. I am in the process of trying to get a referral to the movement disorder clinic. Wish me luck since the md's in the ms clinic are so full of themselves. I also have a father with parkinson's. Seems like movement disorders run in families and Parkinson's is a movement disorder
I saw my general practitioner on friday and he said that they sometimes treat these seizure things as psychological. Now I'm really pissed and determined to get that referral. The reason I need the referral is that the treatments for the movement disorders can be very different than the ones for ms.
Anyway check out this website...it will walk you through stuff till you find the disorder that matches your symptoms. EVen if you don't have the actual disorder you can print out the symptoms, give them to the neuro so he or she can understand you.
