Anxiety or MS?

Hello Everyone

im a 19 yrs old male. I have suffered from three major panic attacks, two of them caused by drugs. after a year of not touching any drugs and drinking i woke up and all of a sudden i strained my neck..i went to a doctor and he gave me this anti-inflammatory pill..i took it and went to bed but woke up next morning feeling numbed and feeling like i was going to pass out so i went to ER and had a blood test and a neck x-ray and they both came back normal. After going through a severe anxiety for a month and being in a constant Derealization and having all these weird symptoms (twitches, noises in the ear, stomach noises, feeling numb, shortness of breath, rapid hear beat i was diagnosed with Anxiety. Anyways after a month i started to feel normal again. i did a CT scan from my head, an MRI from my neck and a full blood test and they call came back normal. I was concerned about brain tumor and that made me feel better for couple of months..after hearing the test results most my symptoms went away until a month ago when all of a sudden i woke up one day feeling dreamy (derealization) and feeling like im in a movie. It got worse and from that day i havent felt normal even for an hour. Starting 2 weeks ago i started having symptoms again but this time it was a little different. Well im gonna make this short i have been feeling extremely tired lately, and from 2 days ago i started having this headache and this pain in the back of my eyes when i move my eyes to the left or right. Yesterday it was worse and when i pressed on my eyes i felt a severe pain. So i went to an eye doctor and she said that i dont have ON - optic neuritis (she checked the back of my eyes) and she said its probably due to stress/migraine/or allergies.

I posted this question about my eyes in this other forum and the doctor told me i might have MS. from then i started freaking out and i havent been able to eat anything or take my mind off this. I havent been active since last year because of my anxiety and not really on a good diet. I sometimes dont eat breakfast or even lunch. Im just always behind the computer searching for diseases i could have and now im really thinking i have MS. because a lot of my symptoms match with the ones of MS. i dont have anyone in my family with MS.

I dont have any twitching and i dont wake up with numbed hands or feet. But i do feel tired most the time. Maybe just because im not an active person and spend a lot of time behind the computer and not doing any type of exercises. My neck also feel stiffed and sometimes i feel like my neck muscles is like getting rotten..i also have this vision problem that i feel dreamy and sometimes its hard for me to focus on class when looking at the board..its like im looking at the board but i cant concentrate on the words..i had dizziness for a week but i dont have dizziness anymore..i dont see flashing lights or experience any double vision..but i do still have some symptoms that match both the ones from anxiety and MS like being fatigue, muscle stiffness, vision problems..sometimes when im falling sleep at night all of a sudden i twitch and i feel like i just got shocked by something but my doctor tells me thats due to stress..

im really worried and my family doctor tells me that im a healthy guy. im sure as soon as i tell him about this he would tell me that i dont have MS without doing further tests and just link it to anxiety.

Im not sure if these symptoms are all because of my anxiety over health problems or something else.

if you have a history of poor diet and drug abuse your problems could be simple malnutrition, not to mention metabolism problems from inactivity. if i were you i would not be in a hurry to chalk this situation up to ms.
do you have access to a nutritionist that could do an evaluation? personally where i am nutritionists are not covered by health care. but you might have adequate insurance to get looked at.
i would advise you to get copies of all your bloodwork and never to believe that the result "normal" means healthy.
check out this familiar diagram - if your blood levels of whatever test come back outside the normal range, you're in those extreme tails. you get one step inside the orange zone and presto your bloodwork comes back 'normal' (probably low- or high- normal, that is) Image
whatever blood work you look at, there are going to be a lot of sick people in that 'normal range'. wouldn't you love to know which part of the curve has the healthy people? it's annoying too because you can't assume the top of the curve. that's just the level the most people have. that doesn't mean everyone with that level is perfectly healthy.
anyway i hope you can find some answers! u should not have to worry about this at age 19.

I am not a doctor, but....
This doesn't sound like MS. I agree with Jimmylegs, you need to start taking care of your body and stay off the computer as well...take a holiday from it. You might benefit from seeing an Osteopath to check if you are aligned correctly.
I don't think you should rest with the doctors though, if you feel that unwell, you need to find out why. If you were doing drugs, I am sad to say, but they can trigger mental illness in vulnerable people, just like certain things may trigger MS in vulnerable people. Or you could have another illness.
Take care of yourself.

You're not eating right, you've a history of drug taking and you're stressed to the maximum that you've MS and spending hours on the pc.

I'm not surprised you feel sick.
Turn off the pc, start eating healthily and regularly, start doing some regular exercise and see people. I bet you'll feel a lot better.

In early stage MS in my late teens I already had numb hands and feet and more serious symptoms than anxiety.

I think you should put this theory behind you and get on with your life.

I think you have received good advice from members here. Whether or not you have MS there are things you can do to improve your situation -- things you can control.

Start with your diet. Make it a model of healthiness. Reduce your carbohydrates -- especially cut out sugar (and even artificial sweeteners) and starch as much as possible.

Add good exercise to your daily routine.

You have heard these recommendations for most of your life -- NOW is the time to implement them.

All the best to you.

thank you all for your advice...

yes i agree with you guys maybe im just putting too much stress on my body and not being a healthy 19 years old and letting anxiety take over me. I have been having extreme anxiety over my health which could be a good thing but in my case its not.

i think i should just start a with a good healthy diet and a daily exercise and maybe seek a therapist for my anxiety and stop searching my symptoms on the internet. its weird what anxiety can do to you and cause all these symptoms.

the reason i did think about MS is i posted this on some forum and someone told me that he had the exact same symptoms and he was diagnosed with MS and i started thinking i might have it..because i do feel tired most the time but that could be caused by me being not an active person..i also get twitches and shocks when falling sleep but i think thats the way of body telling me you are under a lot of stress and anxiety..the muscle problem could be also be because of my posture and seating behind the computer all the time..and the eye and headaches im not sure but well i think i should stop thinking about what symptoms i have.

anyways thank u everyone for replying to my post
i hope you all feel better soon :)

thanks, I. i hope we all do too :)
anxiety makes you drain minerals out of your system - you literally pee them out when you are stressed.. if you can't get to a nutritionist privately, you could try finding a health food store that employs one on staff and get some advice on some quality multivitamins and multiminerals. diet and exercise are great for keeping you healthy. if you're already unhealthy, you might need a little more help before diet and exercise are enough. you might want to try asking your family doc about blood tests for nutrition status in patients with alcohol and drug history. good luck!

I'm sorry you;'re having a rough time, anxiety is very real to the sufferer, and very incapacitating.

I think step # 1 for you is to stop looking up diseases you might have..you're dwelling on the negative. Even nurse and Doc's went thru times in school where they wondered if the had whatever horrible disease that was being discussed in class. Everyone has MS symtoms to some extent, feeling tired and achy etc.

Get out in the spring air and work out the kinks.

I wish you the best!!
