MS or Migraine?

I've had migraines for 24 years but nothing like what started yesterday morning:

Sharp, shooting pains on right side of head, from about 1" behind my ear, up and around to top of head. Very incessant. Since there is a low pressure system in the area (a migraine trigger for me) I assumed it was a migraine but Excedrin Migraine didn't touch it (usually takes care of my migraines).

Hurts enough to have kept me up most of the night.

Anyone else have something similar occur? Is it an MS thing?

i have had a shooting pain up the side of my head before but it starts in my neck and goes right up into my ear not behind it. i'm not sure what the trigger or triggers are, but i looked into the nerves in the side of the head and there is one that i decided, must be the culprit.
i have had migraine twice and i don't consider that neck/ear nerve pain a migraine per se, so it must be lower key than what you describe.
anyway i have heard of more than one case of migraines cured by vitamin d3. in cheer's case she used a few other things besides d3, including magnesium and omega 3.

not sure if that sounds like migraine, maybe more nerve pain? I take low dose amitriptyline 25mg at night for nerve pain, has helped greatly. Interestingly it is used sometimes as a migraine preventative.

As Jimmylegs said Vitamin D3 has eradicated my monthly migraines for the last 6 months. I got tested last year and found I had insufficient levels of D3. Since I've brought up my level to normal the migraines have stopped. Well, around the time they used to start I get warning signs and aura sometimes but they don't develop into 4 days of feeling like death warmed up anymore.

In case you find out you're also insufficient in D3 I took 800IU in morning as part of a multivitamin and in cod liver oil, then 3000IU D3 in afternoon along with 250mg magnesium, and then 250-500g magnesium and 600g calcium at night. It really seems to have helped but I would definitely check out your vitamin D3 status first to see where you're at. I think the addition of magnesium in particular is important, I think it might also help the migraines a lot - just my anecdotal impression. :wink:

Migraine was my first MS symptom.

The Excedrine Migraine was what took care of mine for a while. But then nothing helped.
