Moving from Italy to Canada to work...

Hi everybody!
I´m new here and I hope some of you can help me.
I have a question: I would like to move to canada for working reasons (I´m from Italy). And, of course, the problem is how to get Rebif over there without spending all my money. So the question is if anybody knows somebody that moved from Europe to America and how they could deal with burocratical stuff and money. I´ve already asked to the consulate in Italy and in Canada and to the various offices I found in Italy. They cannot give me any resolutive answer except that they are not going to give any money!

Thanks a lot!

Greetings,
Babs :D

Maybe if you contact Serono (Canada) directly, they can help you out. :?:

Babs,

First of all, are you seeking landed immigrant status in Canada or are you just moving here to work? There is a difference as far as health care goes in these situations. Landed immigrants are covered by government health care but depending on the company they work for and what kind of additional medical insurance is offered by that company, the Rebif or other drugs may or may not be covered. There are a number of variables here and many possible answers.

If you are moving here only to work, then I presume that you are going to work for a particular company? Is this a correct assumption? If so, then that company's human resources department (if they have one) should be able to answer all the questions that you have about health coverage.

Private health insurance is available but there isn't an insurance company in Canada that would cover you with a prior existing illness like MS. They would cover you for other situations but would exclude anything do with the MS.....like paying for the Rebif.

Hope this helps.
