LDN and dosage times

I started taking LDN 3mg at bedtime 3 days ago. I've noticed that it causes sleeplessness for me, which is counterproductive when it comes to my symptoms. When I sleep well, I feel much better throughout the day. Everything I've read about LDN says that everyone takes it at bedtime.

My questions are:

1)Does anyone take their dose at anytime other than bedtime (such as in the morning)?

2)Why should I HAVE to take it at bedtime?

3)If it initially causes sleeplessness, has anyone noticed this side effect stopping at some point?

The theory is that endorphins are produced at night/early morning, and so the endorphin blockade that LDN purportedly causes needs to happen right before the production cycle.

Yes, the sleeplessness wore off after the first week, thankfully

LDN needs to be taken between 9pm and 3am (personally, I think 10pm and 3am during DST). Since most people go to sleep at that time of day, the easier instructions are "bed time". I happen to work 12-8am during the week, so I take mine around 1-2AM every day and I'm usually just waking up at that time.

Hi Elana, :D

Good luck with your treatment, it seems to work differently for different folks, but that seems to be the norm with MS.

I am currently on day 5 of my fourth attempt, using different dosages, and am determined to see it through this time.

Last night I went to sleep the moment my head hit the pillow - I was up an hour later for a pee, then slept through until morning. Without LDN, I am up and down a minimum of five times in a night. If nothing else improves, that alone will make the whole thing worthwhile for me.

All the best,
Chris P

This is my fourth week on LDN. At first I could not sleep but solved that by cutting the dose to 1.5mg for a week. I've since been on 3mg. So far I have noted more energy and much, much less cramping in my legs, feet and hands. Prior to me, my neuro had one patient taking LDN and, since he wrote the script for me, he has written it for three more patients. The next time I see him I'll ask for a prescription for 4.5 mg.

I was diagnosed in '85 and am considered SPMS now.
