I am a ppms'er and only been on LDN for approx 1 week. Still have spasticity and seem to want to rest a lot, is this normal? I also have a lot of pain still and just wondering if u can recommend a pain killer that won't interfere with LDN. I have asked my Dr and he said he would look into it but has not come back to me! My previous doctor said there was nothing else - currently on Diclofenac 75 mg - upto 2 p/d and Nurafen and panadol (2 of each) several times a day. Any help appreciated as this pain is driving me nuts!!!! I hope I don't sound too desparate but I would like to get this thing under control given that Christmas is fast approaching!

This site is for LDN use only and the administrator seems to be very well informed.

I am sorry that I am unable to help you, but I do not suffer from pain. I do know that narcotic pain killers do not work with LDN. My understanding is that you would have to take a higher dose of the pain medication in order to achieve the normal pain reduction. This is why they tell you to go off LDN if you are having surgery.

Also, one week is such a short time - even a month might be hoping for too much.

I started taking LDN six months ago to stop the MS progression. So far, so good - I am exercising more and getting stronger.

This info popped up today on Pub Med:

Lamotrigine in the treatment of pain syndromes and neuropathic pain

The object of our interest is the efficiency of lamotrigine in treating the pain.

A MEDLINE search was conducted to identify pertinent studies, case reports, letters, and reviews in English published from 1986 to May 2007.

The search has indicated efficiency in treating a number of painful syndromes and neuropathic pain;.....trigeminal neuralgia in multiple sclerosis, pain in multiple sclerosis, ......

Lamotrigine is in a clinical trial in MS but I really don't have a clue if it's compatible with LDN. Maybe it's something you could ask about on the other board Sharon identified.

I take ldn. It's worth persevering with.

The pain killer you will need depends on what causes your pain (sorry to state the obvious)- panadol is for muscular rather than neuropathic, and nurofen is similar but also for inflammation although not of the ms variety methinks - and neither intefere with ldn as far as I know.


Always worth asking an expert though so I am sure someone will help you are the trust.
