Whats going to happen if I miss an infusion?

Due to my Neuro moving away and the order for my Tysabri infusions running out at the end of the month. There is a chance I will miss my infusion next month. I have an appointment with a new Neuro at the end of May, and they have me on a list so that if they have any cancellations that I will be called in. So now it's just a waiting game with Tysabri case manager or whomever it is calling trying to get my order reauthorized with the new neuro on their recommendation, and it's all just a big mess. I'm kind of scared of what will happen if I do miss my infusion next month and I don't have a neuro to ask and my GP doesn't even know really know what Tysabri is. Last month I went over my thirty days due to illness and it was awful. You wouldn't think that it would be, but I was so fatigued it took me two hours to get out of bed before I called the Hospital to get my infusion done elsewhere in the hospital other than the infusion center since they were closed. Oh now I'm rambling...I'm just a little nervous and I don't know who to ask, if anyone even knows :?:

Sheldon,

I'm not 100% sure what happens if you miss an infusion. I can tell you my personal experience. One of my infusions last year was delayed for 17 days because I had a surgery and my neurologist said it would be okay to get the infusion a little late. The experience took away any doubts I had about the positive impact Tysabri was having in my life. I was exhausted, in pain, my walking became a little unstable, the vision in my left eye was blury. Everything returned back to the condition it was before the skipped dose.

I don't know about you but, I usually feel Tysabri wearing off about a week or so before the next dose. So, I mean everything returned to how I felt before that wearing off period started.

I hope you get yolur infusion soon!

Well Crap...Thank you Marie for the input. I was afraid of something like that happening. My fingers are crossed that I get my infusion on time. I do feel the tysabri wearing off about a week before, I guess thats why I'm nervous. About a week before I can't wait to go to the Procedure center to get my infusion, and I HATE needles so it doesn't make sense, until the next day when i feel so much better. Well whatever happens, happens, as my Physical Therapist told me "You wouldn't have been given this disease if you wern't strong enough to handle it"

I just found this forum today, and I'm so glad I did. I have missed my dose of Tysabri by about a week, and could barely get out of bed this morning. Now I feel better knowing that others have experienced the same reaction. I also feel the "drag" about a week before my next infusion is due.

Hi Guys

I had Tysabri Infusion 47 last Wednesday. It was 5 weeks since my previous infusion and I suffered no adverse effects. I never feel a slump prior to my regular infusion. I remember asking on this forum about the effects of missing an infusion. I don't know how long ago but it is there. Maybe the slump has something to do with the length of time on the treatment but I no longer have fears about missing an infusion. I hope all goes well for you and you get sorted out soon :)
