Greetings all. Infrequent visitor and new to the board.

Here's the synopsis:

Wife dxd in 2002, initially started on Rebif, took it for prox 2 years with no stabilization, in fact mri's were worse. Changed to Tysabri, had three injections, felt markedly better, drug was pulled.
Began Methotrexate, been on it for prox 7 years. Clear deterioration in the last 2 years, prior to that most could not tell she was sick. MD now switching her to Tysabri again. 3 month "dry out" period almost over, 1st infusion in November.
Motor skills, emotional and general health are worse now than ever. Hoping Tysabri is the answer.

Questions's from some of the posts I've been reading:

What is the rebound effect?
What is Bg-12?

Married 31 years. 3 kids; one in law school, one in med school and one in 8th grade.
Looking forward to hearing from and getting to know some of you.

Welcome to ThisIsMS, StaffRat. I commend you for taking an active role in your wife's situation. You seem to have a lovely family; we also look forward to getting to know you.

I am not qualified to answer your question about rebound, but I am sure others will respond. Do a "search" in the upper right-hand corner on BG-12 (I know you will find lots of hits.).

Welcome to ThisIsMS. BG-12 is a new oral medication for MS developed by Biogen. The name of the molecule is dimethylfumarate. It's expected that this new drug will be approved by the FDA by about the end of the year. You can read more about it in the BG-12 forum.

Edit: The pending decision on BG12 by the FDA has been pushed back to Spring 2013.
