Is anyone on this forum a part of this ongoing Trimesta study? I'd love to hear results so far, the initial study results looked very promising.

Estriol

I'm not in the Trimesta study but I've been on estriol for about 5 years now. So far, so good but as with all things with MS, hard to say if it's because of the estriol, something else, or the course of my disease. I've been relapse free; still working full time at age 63 (Yikes!).

Lot's more info in this estriol thread . You'll see I'm also on 500 mg. progesterone, Copaxone and do try to follow low saturated fat diet, exercise and take supplements.

Personally I think "estrogens" per se have lots of neuroprotective properties that may be relevant both to MS and potentially CCSVI. This abstract is an example. Neuroprotective effects of estrogens following ischemic stroke
low, physiological concentrations of E(2).....dramatically protect the brain against stroke injury
Carole--Guys (and women too) might want to consider Phytoestrogens as neuroprotectants
Numerous in vitro and in vivo studies show potential neuroprotective properties of phytoestrogens on the brain in conditions ranging from aging to neurodegenerative disease and cerebral ischemia.
Take care--hope this helps. :)

Thanks Sharon, that was a very informative link. I wondered, are there any blood tests you get regularly for monitoring purposes since being on these hormones? Liver, etc? I have no idea what the side effects of these could be and plan to talk to my OB/GYN at my next appt. I will also first ask her to test my hormones...any recommendations on what tests are absolute musts?

Thanks so much you are a wealth of hormone information!
