How brilliant...

How brilliant this is....8O

Okay. I take Amantadine for fatigue. I find it to be very useful. 100mg 3xday. I get 3 bottles at a time. They're numbered 1 of 3... etc.

I just finished "2 of 3". I then went to fetch #3.
I found that I must have taken them out of order... no more bottles 8O
The refill order will be taken care of and I'll get the meds in a day or two.

Unfortunately, I will be a very unhappy and very tired camper for the next 48-72 hours...8O

Lesson: Always start with #1.

Oh yeah... another lesson:

Find another place where the meds are more visible and still out of reach of children.

Brilliant.

Well, off I go to slowly pace myself for the next few days. Kind of hard to do when you have a 2.5 year old running around!

Cheers,

Niko 8)

It's true. I'm glad I am not alone. And it does have a bit of humor in it.
But geesh...

Gotta remember... start at #1... start at #1... gotta remember that :)

Maybe I'll get a t-shirt with that on it :)

Cheers,

I am  way too much about this.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why 3 bottles of the same medication need to be numbered to start with

If you don't number them, you don't have to remember to start with #1.

Less to remember it seems to me...oh well

I'm still  so please clue me in here.

Hi Niko,

loved your story... in the meanwhile, you could also try a natural supplement that Shayk had submitted a story to us about:

"The Journal of Neurological Science (2004 Mar 15) reports on research comparing acetyl l-carnitine (ALCAR) and amantadine for the treatment of fatigue in MS.

Researchers at the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Rome conducted a pilot, randomized, double-blind crossover trial involving 36 MS patients who presented with fatigue. The abstract concludes: "The results of this study show that ALCAR is better tolerated and more effective than amantadine for the treatment of MS-related fatigue." The trial included treatment with amantadine (100 mg twice daily) or ALCAR (1 g twice daily.) Six patients (5 on amantadine and 1 on ALCAR) withdrew because of adverse reactions.

For complete information, please refer to: J Neurol Sci 2004 Mar 15;218(1-2):103-8. Comparison of the effects of acetyl l-carnitine and amantadine for the treatment of fatigue in multiple sclerosis: results of a pilot, randomized, double-blind, crossover trial. Tomassini V, et al"

Whoo-Hooooo :D  8)

I just got the refill in today's mail.

I made sure I started with bottle #1 and have placed the other two in a more visible spot.

Phew... I had a few too many tired moments.
Heinlein gave good advice.

Again, I say:

Whoo-Hooooo :D  8)

Cheers,

Hey Niko, I've got my own "how brilliant is this?"

Get diagnosed with MS and decide I need to get on with traveling more.

Primary symptom, difficulty walking (balance and coordination).

Make plans to go to Buenos Aires.

Read Buenos Aires travel book!

Yippee, one of the highest rates of pedestrian deaths in the world.

If I post again in about 2 weeks, I made it. Otherwise not.....

Everyone be good and healthy as can be.

When first dx'd 2 yrs ago, I decided to aquire my motorcycle license. Problem was, I didn't know how to ride at all. I enrolled within 2 weeks of getting my dx in MANY's which is an acronym for Motorcycle Association Of New York... Anywho, in one weekend I got my motorcycle license and learned the basics of driving a motorcycle. As you can imagine, coordination is very well a necessity for driving a MC... I had none, hehehe... but I passed the written test with 100% accuracy and I passed the road test with the lowest score in the class... Hey I still passed...!!! Isn't that what counts?? I had to wait for Motor Vehicles to receive my paperwork before I could claim victory... In that time, I decided to buy my first motorcycle.... Was I crazy or Brilliant??? Well here is the brilliance in all of it... I bought a 250 cc maxi scooter!!! It was an automatic so I didn't have to be too concerned with the coordination....

After one summer of riding this little 250cc, I decided I was ready for a bigger more powerful bike... The following summer I bought an Aprilia Atlantic 500cc.... Wow was this bike big and HEAVY!!! I enjoyed riding when I could and when I didn't have strength in my legs to do so, I looked forward to the days when I could ride.

The bike is now for sale... I can no longer ride as I don't have strength in my legs to hold the bike up any longer. But the best part of this is, I experienced being a 2 wheel rider before having to trade my 2 wheels for a 4 wheeled (chair)... I now have no regrets... It makes me wonder if I had not been dx'd with MS when I had, would I have even thought of aquiring my mc license? You know how we always put things off and then realize how much we wanted to do things when we just can't do them anymore.

Trading my 500cc 190 mph 2wheeler for a 1cc 5mph 4wheeler was the most degrading feeling I have ever felt.... But I knew that riding the 500cc was going to be short lived, and at least I proved to myself that I could do it, and I did... I keep thinking of ways to make my 4wheeler faster but I suppose I will never have that feeling of freedom as I did with my Aprilia.... My kids tease me by offering up their bike helmets when I am on my way out with my 5mph 4wheeler ride... I smile because I know the feeling of riding free whether on a 190mph 500cc 2 wheeler or a 5mph 1cc 4 wheeler (chair)... It's all about how you view things, Life has its lemons which is okay with me because I like lemonade!!!

i love it!

Hi Niko--
You have to know that it took me 3 reads of your post to figure out that you started with the third bottle. I couldn't for the life of me understand why you only had 2 bottles.

Once my MS brainfog lifted, I couldn't stop laughing at the both of us.

Your story rings true for me too. What fun we can have with ourselves, eh?
And yes, always start with #1.
