Seems Don Brown has made his fortune with The DaVinci Code and he'll make much more when he sells the film rights. It will make a very good film - if it get the right director and screen-writers.

But I thought it dreadful! One could not feel any empathy with any of the characters; the plot was thin and obvious; the contexts were embarrassingly dumb - we're in Paris so I'll make a reference to the Eiffel Tower yuk! The editing is amateurish too, every other word in italics, and 104 chapters in 400 pages.

I read John LeCarre's Single & Single, a romantic thriller about a man and woman "on the run" and reread Bill Bryson's Neither Here nor There, a European travelogue alongside DaVinci - I had to as a favour to my wife to stop myself ranting too much. Don Brown doesn't get anywhere near the suspense created by LeCarre or the amusement generated by Bryson. He does patronise and talk down a lot though!

But it will make a good film - pity he didn't sell the "book-rights" too!

John, I agree with you. I was dissapointed and am still amazed at how "popular" a book it is. The characters were two-dimensional. The story was a bit of a yawn-er.

My last book was Neil Gaiman's biography of Douglas Adams. Focusing on how "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" developed and grew and grew and grew!

I'm now reading Greg Bear's "Darwin's Radio". It's an interesting story... is evolution a slow-progression or can something in our DNA awaken and move humanity along?
I don't know But it is an interesting story.

Oh, I don't know. I thought it was a good, easy read. A great book to delve into while traveling by plane.

But, everything in it was made up or embellished. He didn't even get the discovery date of the Dead Sea scrolls correctly.
