Newly dianosed in Oct 09. Question about fatigue

Hi everybody,
I was dianosed with MS in Oct of 09 and I am having extreme fatigue. My Dr recommended that I try nuvigil but my insurance wouldn't pay for it. Now I have to do a sleep study to try and get on provigil but I can't do it until mid May. I am curious to know what other medications or treatments have worked for other peoples fatigue. Thanks in advance.

Hello

i am quite new to this forum myself, even though i got diagnosed in 2002. ive had a fairly benign disease so far, and i have not had much problems with fatigue before now.

in my experience attacs will drain you for energy, for a few months when the problem the attac caused is clearing up, depending on how big the attac was. when your body is recovering, you just have to take it steady, get all the rest you possibly can, do not aggrevate it, by trying to get back to work to soon etc.

now i am probably experiencing the proper ms fatigue, i feel lathargic and exhausted even if im not recovering, i feel absolutley shattered from doing nothing, and i cant push mself to do anything, my body just wont let me. i have been like this for half a year or so now, and it is getting worse.
i have read that physical exercise will help, and i think it might be true. dont give into the fatigue completly, do force yourself to keep a little bit active, but the key word is BALANCE. you can not over do it, it will make you worse, but you can not just resign, as it will never improve.
so i think my advice is to do what you can, when you can, but listen to your body telling you when it is enough. find the balance that is right for you each day.

Thanks for the info Sophia! I have not been able to find that balance yet. I try to do too much and then I am out of commission for a few days. I think my wife is starting to figure it out a little and she tries to slow me down. Its all so new to me yet hopefully I'll figure it out!
