Hi all,
This is my first time here and hoping to find some information on what I have going on. I don't even know where to start. The last year and a half of my life has been crazy. At least I feel that way.I was diagnosed with Epilepsy last year. As of today we have not found a medication that has controlled them. I have tingling in my hands feet and face. A few times i have had numbness in them. Have had to go to the er 2 times as the numbness was so bad in my hands and feet. My energy levels are very low. It is hard for me to get things done as the energy is just not there. For the last few weeks I have been dropping things with my left hand and had a tightness in my neck and shoulders for years. for the last 6 months or so it has gone down into my lower back as well. Last night my hubby and I went to go to bed and my legs felt really heavy and was very hard to walk. Hubby had to help me into bed. I have been told by a few people that we know where we live ( one has MS and the other does not) that I needed to be checked for MS.This is not a complete list of my medical problems. I have been diagnosed with IBS, pre-diabetis, glaucoma, pcos. What does every one here think? IS this something I should be tested for or am I just going crazy? Any info will help me.....Thanks....

hi christie, welcome to TiMS. my personal focus is nutrition and i can think of some tests off the top of my head. there are known nutritional imbalances found in epileptic patients and ms patients. i can point you to some reading if you are interested :)

Christie, welcome to This IsMS. As you will learn, many of us here have our own unique perspectives on this disease; mine revolves around insulin. I suspect that insulin resistance causes excess insulin in the bloodstream, causing many of the symptoms known as MS.

I suggest that you discuss insulin resistance with your physician, and request that he perform a "fasting blood insulin test." – This is a completely different test from a glucose test. Ideally, the result should be below 3 UU/ML; several of my friends with MS and I myself have test results above 9.

Type II diabetics have excess insulin (hyperinsulinemia); since you have said you are prediabetic, I suspect your insulin level is high already. There is no medication to lower a high insulin level; it can only be lowered by diet.

Again, welcome and all the best to you.
