MS - with no lesions?

Good Morning,

I have gotten great news this morning that I don't have lesions or any other abnormalities on the brain from my MRI.

I'm still experiencing numbness in different parts of my body. I will be going to the Dr. to investigate more.

My question is, can you still have MS without the the lesions on the brain?

Thanks,
MommyOf2

Yes, you can 5% experience no lesion on MRI at all.. this does not mean you have ms though.. all things need to be looked into..
Wishing you the best, MS is not the best or the worst case scenerio... have you had a spinal tap??? There is also a retinal eye scan that can be done, it is pretty good at checking for early stage optic neuritis... before MRI picks it up.. This is not the "gold standard" yet or used with neurologist.
It is done by eye dr's... just something to check into.

My first MRI was only of the brain and did not show any lesions. My second MRI (done three years later) was of the brain and spinal cord and showed two lesions on the brain and one on the spinal cord.

Possibly the lesion was on the spinal cord when the first MRI was done of only the brain. Was your MRI of just the brain or both?

I have had a clear spinal 22 yrs later my brain mri only now shows small lesions.. and only after about 17 yrs. I have had other postive things though on physical exam.. optic palor.. loss of reflex.. several other things.. gait problems.. some things that showed up on other test. The EEG type things they do.. to test for nerve path ways.. (can't call up what this test is called)
As they say it is called MULTIPLE sclerosis..... for a reason.. it comes and goes and moves around..... RR ..Remits and relapses..
Horrendous spasms, tremors.. over the years, I have lost count of my symptoms.. numbness and tingling.. fatitue ..

My MRI was only of my brain. Right now I'm starting to feel better, the numbness in my face has subsided, but I still get occasional twitchs. I'm getting some blood tests done, and hopefully they come up as nothing as well. This certainly has been a wake up call, a call for change..........

Wishing you a full recovery, and dx. Please be sure and keep a copy of your medical records. This is good in case your not using the same hospital or dr for testing in case the need arises again.
Best wishes and good health

Hope your symptoms do not return but if they do you should realize that mercury poisoning can give similiar symptoms. You can see a mercury free dentist and he can check the level of mercury in your mouth. Amalgams(mercury) fillings are not the only way we are exposed to mercury. Eating the wrong kind of fish, too many vaccinations, or living in and industrialized area can be a problem. One thing that will help is eating a diet of raw fruits and vegetables. Good nutrition is the key to good health.
