Hi,

I'm 41 and my journey started March 14th and was diagnosed rather quickly. I woke up and the right side of my face was numb. I found it odd and went to work. By lunch, it was not better and felt it was spreading to the entire left side of my head. So off to the ER I go as care now said we have to rule out stroke. With luck, the Dr. who saw me said let's do a MRI opposed to Cscan as they will show more. Needless to say, he comes in "Good News, you did not have a stroke"..."Bad News, your MRI came back irregular":( Off to the Neuro I went. Was able to get in 2 days later and he said from what he saw I had MS and let's do more MRI's and LP.

March 26th had the MRI's and LP (was off a week from work as I got the spinal headache that comes with it:().

April 2nd go back to Neuro and says tests confirm I have MS, many scar tissue in my scans and active lesion. Threw some material on treatment at me and said let me know what you want to do.

Decided this Neuro not for me as he treated me as if I had the flu. Found a Dr. that specialized in MS and went to him on May 1st. He reviewed all my scans and said I was "textbook" MS and my Oligoclonal band count was 12. He said I had many active lesions as well as a lot of old scar tissue.

May 10th back to Dr. for Shooting pains in left leg/arm that shoots in to neck – making weak and feel faint. Numbness around left side of face and ear. Starts my Copaxone that day oppose to waiting on Insurance company.

Since then the Right side of my face has gone numb again (feeling back on left side), shooting pain in right leg and left arm and very weak with pin/needle feeling in them when not shooting pain. Extreme fatigue.

At times it is difficult to swallow and feel like my chest is closing when trying to eat.

I'm alive and well and still walking and talking so I feel I'm good and just need to get past this "episode". I do my best to keep a positive attitude and not show my pain. I have a great support group.

Any advice on how to help the pain (I'm on Gabapentin 2pills 3x a day) and the fatigue would be greatly appreciated. Some days better than others but this last week has not been fun:(

Dr. Swank studied MS for 50 years and showed that diet can control MS. Might consider the diet route since diet is the key to all healing.
