Hi all

This is the first time ive embarked on any type of forum like this, im hoping it helps or points me in the right sort of directions?!
My mum was diagnosed with MS 23years ago, i was 9 at the time....I'm 32 now. The norm since then is that my Dad is my mums main carer...obviously myself, my brothers and close family are around but it mainly falls on him. So 23 years on my dad is now 66, my mum is 54. My Dad and I have always spoken about getting my mum out and about but we're not sure where to look and what to do?? My mum is at the point where she is struggling quite a bit now, physically she can only walk with a frame but is falling more often and mentally she struggles with her memory or following longer conversations.
Apart from the family my mum is not part of any group or doesn't have any social outlet.
My thinking is that my mum would really benefit from some form of stimulation, mentally or physically!
We live in Stockport, near Manchester in England.....like i said earlier im not sure this is the right place to be but its my start, if anybody could advice me otherwise I would appreciate it so much!!

Thanks for any advice in advance and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Fletch32.

Hi Fletch.

Welcome to TIMS

i think it is a great idea to offer your mom "some form of stimulation, mentally or physically".

Perhaps she would be interested in arts/crafts? Something to do *and* a way to meet people in classes...
