Hi im new here, I haven't been Dx yet with MS, and I dont want to be someone who comes here with hysteria etc about something I dont have a dx of. But I went yesterday to neuro for tingling in feet and legs, and urinary ..leaking
I have hyperreflexia in arms and legs and clonis in ankles. He hooked me up to EMG and NCS which were both normal. The tingling is worse when I bend my head or put chin on chest. Im noticing some carpal tunnel in my wrist. No dizzy spells or coordination issues all blood test normal. He didn't suspect brain cancer, and its not Als. But is worried about MS. I'm 40, had shingles this summer, my wifes mom has MS and she has been quietly wondering for some time, due to forgetfulness.
I wont be devastated if its MS, but my question is, - Can I remain active, do people work out at the gym, go hiking etc. We are doing a MRI today on my neck(he said he could see MS there, and he could also see any Herniated disc if there is one. Is this abnormal? I would think the brain would be the spot to look?

Thanks

Steve

Do not think anyone can tell you how it will progress. It is different in everyone. You might want to consider a holistic doctor who will try to find out why you have your symptoms. Diet is very important in treating all disease so you might check out the diet section. Good Luck.

When I had my MR they found a lesion in my neck, they checked the brain too but the one that was causing me trouble was/is in the neck. Of course you can stay active - after my diagnose I was a bit overwhelmed by everything so I decided to take more time off to read etc. but slowly as my flare subsided I decided to start dancing again (before I trained 3 times a week, now I train 1 or 2 times a week because I like to have my schedule more free but not because I couldn't do it or smthn like that) and it's great - is missed it so much. I go hiking eventually or just for a walk etc. I just try to not overdo anything, not work, not social life, not anything - I try to balance everything.

I too have a lesion on my spine and no place else, this was found 2 yrs ago. It took a few months for my symptoms to calm down and I started on low dose naltrexone and copaxone, I feel great and hike all the time and run. Never let it take over, I look at it as I have a cause not a disease! Positive is everything, I also just went gluten free and feel even better. I've been symptom free now 2 yrs. I once in awhile have odd things that last once in while but nothing big.
