Hi everyone,

26 year old male from San Francisco here. I've had really intense MS symptoms for the past 30 days and minor tremors for the 30 days preceding that. My symptoms include numbness and tingling in my left side (and now a bit on the right), cognitive issues that have since left, face numbness, problems swallowing, problems holding urination, limbs that fall asleep on a dime, major heat issues with the shower, tremors, throbbing forehead and major headaches, fatigue, and slurred speech. All of these symptoms come and go.

The bizarre thing -- my 3T MRI with contrast came back negative.

I am meeting with an MS specialist on Monday to go over everything. I have to say this all seems very ominous.

Did anyone have a similar experience at onset?

I do not think your experience is unusual. I had three MRIs in two years and other neurological tests, which all came back "normal." Even the Mayo Clinic did not find MS. Only on my fourth MRI with a new neurologist did I finally receive the MS diagnosis.

I now think my MS symptoms are due to chronically elevated insulin level. I think everyone should ask for a "fasting blood INSULIN test" – not to be confused with the routine glucose test. My first insulin test result was 12 UU/ML; no test since that time has been lower than 9 UU/ML. The optimal insulin test result should be 3 UU/ML or lower. Your GP or internist will order this test upon request; a neurologist probably will not since this is not in his area of expertise.

I figure they will send me in for a LP after this next appointment. I hope I can get on treatment soon.

Interestingly I had pancreatitis when I was little from an adverse reaction on antibiotics I was taking. I just left a voicemail with me doctor to ask if my insulin levels have been checked, and if not, if they could please order the labs for me.
