Probable MS...new to here

Hello!

I am new here. The drs are saying "probably MS" because I have lesions on my spine, but I also have hemangiomas on my spine too. I have not gotten to see the recommended spine dr or neurologist because I do not have insurance. That being said...here are my symptoms:

tremors in hands and legs mostly, sometimes my whole body.
numbness and tingling in arms, face and legs.
muscles spasms
easily injured muscles (I herniated a neck muscle, for example)
My gait is "off" I tend to walk wobbly though my kids say they can't really tell. I work hard to stay on a straight line but it is like I can't fully control where my feet land.
weakness that comes and goes
vision problems that come and go
rare reaction to Neurontin that is consistent with MS

I also have lupus and fibromyalgia. My dr told me to look up MS and we will take it from there. I have many drug and food allergies so it is hard to find a medicine I can actually take. When things get bad enough that I can not function the dr puts me on Prednisone.

Does this sound like MS?

Welcome to ThisIsMS, Cyndi. You have found a new group of supportive friends.

MS shares many symptoms with many other diseases/conditions; from your list of symptoms, one can only say that it is possible that your diagnosis is MS – only your doctor can tell you for certain.

It is not uncommon for a person diagnosed with one autoimmune disease to be diagnosed with a second, or even a third as well.

Before modern, expensive tests were available, doctors used to diagnose MS on the basis of symptoms and if they temporarily worsened when the patient sat in a hot bath for a while.

If they go by the hot bath theory...no doubt there!! I can barely function if I take a hot bath. About an hour after I cool down I am better though. whew!

Read everything you can about the Swank Diet. Unlike some of the other fad diets, he followed patients for over 30 years. The bulk of the patients that stayed the course were still walking after 30 years, the bulk of those who didn't ended up dead or severely disabled.

The cool thing is, there isn't any risk. The worse thing that will happen is you'll lose weight, lower your blood pressure, etc. I.e. it is something that would be good for all of us. Don't get me wrong, the diet sucks (a little). I really miss cheese. But on the whole it is a small price to pay if it means I can still walk in another 20 years. I was diagnosed 10+ years ago. I got complacent for a while and was off the diet, but I think I'm on it for good now. I'm also supplementing with fish oil, circumin (you can save money by mixing tumeric with oil and pepper), and evening primrose oil. Good luck.
