Hello, have seen quite a few US posts about blood tests. i'm told here in the UK that blood tests can't and don't help diagnose MS. Can anyone tell me what their blood tests were for and if they were helpful?

Thank you :-)

Trudy

I think it's mainstream vs alternative, for the most part. the mainstream tests are things like MRI, lumbar puncture, visual evoked potentials, nerve conductivity tests, etc etc.
alternative approaches use an assortment of tests for nutrient status, pathogens, etc.

Have you seen this in the UK newspaper today?

Please educate and learn about this, MS is being misdiagnosed at a very alarming rate.

Thanks for the info.

Yes I saw the article about tick bites but I am 100% sure I haven't been bitten. Lymes disease doesn't show as brain lesions does it?

Seeing nuero this evening to discuss what they have found on brain scan so hopefully will get a better idea of what is going on.

Thanks again.

Lyme Disease can absolutely cause lesions in the brain and spinal cord. I think you should read the article again. Any doctor that tells you otherwise is telling you wrong.

I found it interesting that the test for Lyme disease is not always right. The lady had to get a different test to show positive for Lyme disease. The article I posted says the test is wrong 20% to 30% of the time. Not sure what kind of test she got but see no reason to get the test that can be wrong 20% to 30% of the time. This issue is too important to rely on a test that is sometimes right.

fyi some resources for non-standard nutrient testing:

http://www.bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/

(well the tests are pretty standard, just not using them to deal with ms)
