Hello Everyone....

My name is Annie a/k/a "Kittikat." I'm new to the forums. I was dx'd with RRMS last May of 2005. I'm currently taking Copaxone along with other various meds to control symptoms.

I am currently working (part time) as a veterinary receptionist and I really love my job! However I get extremely depressed many days because I am so exhausted and in such pain when I get home. Even just from part time. Even though my title is "receptionist" my job can be very physical at times. Lifting, stretching, bending, etc. I have only been at this job for about 3 months. And my employer does not know I have MS.
I didn't want to tell her due to the chance I would not get the job. I know we're not "supposed" to be discriminated against but unfortunately many times we are. The other thing is even though I'm part time, my hours are not spread out throughout the week. I work sometimes a 10 1/2 hr. day with a small break. Anyways, I apologize for venting and going on.

I look forward to meeting you. And thank you for listening. :)

fatigue and the ADA

Hi Annie:

I know how frustrating the fatigue can be. You know about American
Disabilities Act don’t you? I no longer work but this law may provide you some help if you want to keep a job you like. It’s brutal that your shifts are so long. This must make it very hard. I think there are ways to keep working. I was told by my neuro that people who work do much better thasn people who don’t but that’s a little tricky. Please post again so we will know how it goes and help if we can.

Welcome to the group btw

Hello Annie. Your user name made me smile as it gave me a flashback of my first pet, stevie, a black Tom cat I had when I was 5 whose fav cat food was Kit e Kat which I always used to confuse with the chocolate bar, Kit Kat. I could never figure out if the cat was being fed chocolate or if I was being offered cat food by a well meaning aunt!
Welcome to the forum.
