I have not been Dx yet, but have soooo many of the signs and symptoms of MS that I stopped counting them. The worse is the peripheral neuropathy in the shins of my legs as well as the pins and needles in different parts of my body. I am a mess. Have too many other conditions to mention, but do have a few immune mediated problems such as RA, allergic asthma and celiac.

It is becoming hard to tell what is causing which problem. Glad I found this site as I can never learn too much. Thanks for the great welcome.

Hi Dr Mom
make sure they make an effort to check you for and consider the possibility of gluten ataxia.
It can look exactly like MS but is in fact a gluten disease. I am sure you know, if you are well versed in celiac, that dermatitis herpetiformis is really the same disease but it attacks the skin (my daughter has that) and gluten ataxia is a deal where the antibodies for the gluten attack the brain and cause the same symptoms as MS.

Because of my daughter I looked into this thoroughly at one point so that's how I am here offering this.

There are some people who make the claim that MS is a gluten disease too, independant of gluten ataxia, but the antibodies for that are not there and I know people who've tried to arrest their MS by eating a gluten free diet only to find it is not effective. OTOH, a gluten free diet is difficult to do well without commitment as I am sure you understand at this point!
The website for the gluten /ms information is msdirect.org.

Welcome! I hope as you work your way through diagnosis you are OK!.
Be well
