Extreme aerobic exercise and improvement in symptoms

Like many people with MS, I have been told by my physicians not to exercise to exhaustion. I did that anyway because I am a passionate amatuer athlete (marathons, triathlons, figure skating, skiing, etc.), and I was willing to pay the price to do what I love.
I have heard that patients with MS who get exhausted can have fatigue that wipes them out for hours or even days.
That's not what happened to me. I have been doing spin classes and really pushing myself. What happened is that feeling started to return to my legs and my walking distance improved dramatically. My cognition improved. The effect was both temporary and cumulative.
I do wonder if this effect is similar to that of Parkinson's patients who experience forced exercise (http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/1 ... the-brain/ )
My question for you: has anyone else had this kind of benefit from extreme aerobic exercise or is it just me?
