I do my Bridges on the floor without a ball. Lay flat, bend your knees, and slowly raise your back in an arch. Lower and repeat.

I never heard of doing them with a ball........sounds interesting. They are very good for strengthening your back muscles. enjoy...Kim

This "exercise" thread has been a little too quiet! Kim, I know you're a shining star.

Brenda, is the equipment out from under the bed? Dawn, has the weather improved and your relapse calmed down so you can enjoy exercise with your kids outside? Chris, how are you? And, everyone else I forgot, what's up?

Can't help but let you all know one of the latest pieces of info I read in a health magazine when I was on the elliptical tonight.

"Sure, you're likely losing brain cells as you get older. (That's me for sure  ) But, it's the connections between cells that count--and you can make more of those."

You guys know I like these quotes :) , so here's another one to keep everyone motivated: "Manage Stress" Memory seems particularly vulnerable to long periods of extreme stress. When a person is subjected to it, a steroid hormone called cortisol is released into the bloodstream. This substance, especially in high levels, can disrupt connections between nerve cells, says Robert Sapolsky, Ph.D., a professor of biological science and neurology at Stanford...."

So, seems like we all better keep exercising to the best of our ability. I personally keep looking for reasons to quit  but can't find them.

I hope everyone is well.

I forgot the tag line on the managing stress quote: "In short, here's another reason to find a stress-busting routine."

Hi everyone,

The weather has finally broke kids are trying to wear their shorts and it is not that time yet! We walk the track at school while my oldest practice softball. It is that time of year again I will have little to no time to excise.

I'm looking into taking some college classes for data entry so I can work form home and stop daycare. I have to get these kids in school and I will be done. So I need something to do from home and I'm looking into it know. I hope I can go to school and still take care of everything! Talk to kids and husband and they are behind me.

Hope you all are doing good!

 This looks like a great forum.

Who posted before in introductions about aerobics?

I am a former *grin* aerobics instructor, dance teacher, fitness professional.

I moved in 1999 and my aerobic classes decreased to 2x a week.

Now I am not teaching at all and usually do an hour a day on the treadmill.

I have been lifting weights also.

I think the neuro said I was in too good a shape to have MS!

And presenting symptoms at 50 was unusual.

My health and fitness commitment has most probably kept me from *presenting* I also was pretty diet aware, and a vitamin junkie.

Who else is thinking a healthy life style kept their symptoms hidden?

Currently I have balance problems, gait is unsteady, fatigue, *cloudy* days where I am easily confused. Loss of words, cant finish a sentence.

I am anxious to start taking Provigil next week and Avonex soon after that.

I want to increase my workout time, once I get my energy back, because I want too keep the weight off!

Is anyone using any type of diet plan?

Atkins is my woe for a long time, and I worry about the higher fat diet and MS...

Any thoughts?

Exercising

Welcome Debe.

I also was recently diagnosed. I find that exercise has become very comforting. I spend 25-35 minutes doing cardio and 30-40 minutes lifting weights. It makes me feel almost "normal". Due to my terrible balance, I may not be able to ski anymore, but I can ride a bike just fine for an hour and bench press my weight. That is better than what most Americans can do.

Exercising can only help. I am glad to see someone who thinks the same way.
