Is it true? It could be bacteriostatic?

I don't know why, but it just upset me, it seems like such a weird thing> Does that mean others got cold sores etc?

My doctor is truly great, and in fact warned me to be alert that if I was feeling crappy or depressed it was the shingles, not a slide down the MS side of the hill. Which is in fact what I'm feeling now. He said its easy to forget that a hat can just be a hat.

So, you've seen cold sores or other stuff? I'm whining I know...

I am on the antibiotics for nearly 3 months now. during the second month I had 4-5 cold sores one after the other. It was really annoying, just as one would clear up here came another. Even stranger was that the healing time thankfully was cut to about 1/2, from about 9/10 days to just 4/5.

Dear Lizz,

Please don't worry, I can understand something like that upsetting you, but it does just seem to happen for some reason. Daunted is another person who has been much troubled by cold sores, amongst other things. As Timea says, though, you will probably find that the healing time is much reduced: I have found this also with this years first crop of insect bites: not only are they much less severe than before, but they clear up much quicker. You might also notice that your fingernails will start to grow more quickly: a nuisance for me because I play the 'cello, in an amateur kind of way, so have to keep them very short to avoid damaging the fingerboard.

You have a very wise GP, as do many people in Canada, it seems.

As unpleasant as this is, I would take it as evidence that you are on the right track with all of this!

thanks - I really appreciate your responses

You are all such an incredible help. I haven't actually told anyone, any friends, whats been going on, I'm sort of in the closet, so I do appreciate your information and advice very much while I sort through all this stuff. And, I believe you're right about the shingles, that I'll get much better very soon.

I understand how you feel, I haven't told anyone either, except for my husband. I will have to tell my Mum though as she's got arthiritis and high blood pressure, which could very well be caused by Cp as well, so I would like her to give ABX a try.

By the way I do not quite understand why/how antibiotics influence cold sores. I thought ABX do not have an effect on viruses. And what does "bacteriostatic" mean?
I assume Cp weakens the immune system and that's when other things surface (eg. cold sores) but then do the ABX temporarily further weaken the immune system or what happens?
Anyone has any input?

Thanks
Timea

Bacteriostatic, I believe, means that the antibiotic blocks the pathogen from replicating, which means that the immune system can take it out.

I'm not sure how this would exactly stress the immune system, but I can tell you that I've had multiple symptoms consistent with a stressed out immune system!
