i think you'll find the more you read about it, the more you'll appreciate zinc :) i certainly didn't know a thing about it a few yrs ago.

re the neurology care link "Zinc supplements have been suggested for treating MS since it was first defined as a disease in the 1880s. However, there is currently no clear evidence supporting zinc supplementation in MS." it's true that science has not focused specifically on addressing the zinc deficits seen in ms patients, eg in this 1988 study

Iron and zinc status in multiple sclerosis patients with pressure sores (1988)
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3396523
"For both groups, intakes of energy, folate, vitamin D, iron and zinc were less than recommended values. Mean plasma levels of albumin and iron were towards the lower limit of the normal range, whilst that for zinc was considerably less than the normal range. Plasma TIBC was slightly above the normal range. Levels of plasma iron and zinc were significantly lower in the pressure sore group. The data indicate that severely disabled hospitalized patients with multiple sclerosis may be at risk of poor nutritional status."

how about this, i'll publish the missing study before the one above hits its 30th birthday.

one last fyi re some respected recommendations:

•Zinc: 25-50 mg
