Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) promising as MS Therapy

High-dose immunosuppressant therapy and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) induced durable freedom from relapses and MRI lesions in patients with multiple sclerosis, researchers reported here.

At evaluations performed 1 and 2 years after the procedure, patients showed no gadolinium-enhancing lesions on MRI scans, and only six of the 24 patients receiving the transplants experienced relapses, reported Richard A. That is very nice, more and more studies for HSCT done around the world with great results so far. Too bad you have to pay from your pocket for the treatment at the moment :(.

Was looking at clinicaltrials.gov for Dr.Burt trial, and I see it is terminated?: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT0 ... sct&rank=7
Anyone know anything about this, I don't see any reason mentioned?

Dr. Burt's trial is definitely NOT terminated. I was just randomized into the transplant arm in July. Here's the link to the current (Phase III) trial: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT0 ... sis&rank=1
