Lancet. 1995 Apr 8;345(8954):897-8.
Focal white-matter lesions in brain of patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
Geissler A, Andus T, Roth M, Kullmann F, Caesar I, Held P, Gross V, Feuerbach S, Scholmerich J. Department of Internal Medicine I, University of Regensburg, Germany.

Inflammatory bowel diseases are often associated with extra-intestinal manifestations, such as arthritis and iritis/uveitis. Using magnetic-resonance imaging we found hyperintense focal white-matter lesions in the brain in 20 of 48 (42%) patients with Crohn's disease, in 11 of 24 (46%) patients with ulcerative colitis, but in only 8 of 50 (16%) healthy age-matched controls (relative risk [95% CI] vs controls 2.6 [1.3-5.3] and 2.9 [1.3-6.2], respectively). These findings may represent another extra-intestinal manifestation of inflammatory bowel disease.

Hey Beat,
Instead of making us read that interminably long thing you call a research paper, how about just telling us who you are, what you have used and how exactly you "beat" MS.

Inquiring minds really want to know. I am new here too, but I have found these people to be very smart and accepting--sooo go ahead, tell us your story, here. I have a feeling you won't, but I could be wrong.

What sort of a God would give you MS in the first place? Not one I would care to have anything to do with.

This is spam. The paper he refers to is not someone's personal story, it's a paper written by a professional person whose interest is in selling the idea of primal defense to people with MS Iit is literature research with highly organized and professional references geared towards making a case for probiotics specifically soil based organisms. IT MAKES ME MAD

I read a story about a new kind of marketing, you hire someoen to hang out on message boards, pretending to be one of "them", the person makes an effort to fit in, to post a thing or two from time to time and all the while he pumps the product he's been paid to pump. A person can make a decent wage at home doing this. This person posted the same thing on several threads of thisisms always go read my story, not a atory written from the heart or connecting in any normal way

Hey a person can buy saccaromyces boulardii for about 8 bucks a bottle not 35 and this aggressively replaces candida in the gut safely . DItto for other probiotic formulas. There is nothing whatsoever in the list of "references" that in any way says primal defense is the probiotic of choice (it includes SB by the way). There is nothing directly linking probiotics to MS in any real, placebo controlled study. THere has been speculation that candida might play a role, but having played that game with my ND taking nystatin for a long time (6 months) and getting worse not better plus triggering seropositivity in rheumatoid, I am unimpressed by this diagnosis.

Look "David" or whoever you really are we are really sick. you don't beat MS with probiotics if so we'd have heard of it becasue MANY of us take them (myself included)

Wanna hear something else? Manntach monosaccharides probably help MS see the research they've done.
Juice plus probably helps MS see the research they've done
Buy the book the MS cure by Celeste pepe -she figured it out Take out your fillings and eat as she says to)
What do these things have in common? THey make money for a company if you go for the theory. Not all the scams and cons are inside the pharmaceutical industry

Oh boy. Browsing these forums is like taking a stroll down a dark alley. Hard to know who to trust.

i have never thought beat was trying to sell anything, but i definitely don't think the answer for him would automatically be the answer for everybody. i've mentioned the brands of supplements that i take before, and nobody jumps down my throat about it, maybe if i had my own web site they would start. who knows?

I think may be his error is the opening line "I put my faith in God". This isn't a winning statement for the rational, scientific community which this website thankfully is.

Hey I'm rational and I pray all the time.(At least I think I am :? ) I also use probiotics but in foods and regulate stomach flora as well with foods. I tend to steer towards if you can get it from food try there first. You will be able to tell if your stomach flora is balanced just by the smell of you BM. Know your body inside out. If you eat wrong your body will tell you.

yep i agree gg, the heavy textual emphasis on religion is only represented in, i think it was, one of beat's references. the rest are all or mostly regular journal articles, as i recall from my original perusal of beat's info, correct me if i'm wrong...

Don't know its validity, especially since its on a site selling a cure. It simply involves spitting into a glass first thing in the morning and observing it after an hour. And here I went had got blood taken.
