HI.

I have been taking Minocycline 50 mg every other day for 3 weeks. I am slowly increasing it as I go. Anyways, for the last week or so I have had something like bone pain in my arm and then again in my right leg.

It was a good thing I was sitting down because when this spongy bone pain struck my right arm, I would have fallen. It was quick though. The leg pain is lingering longer and is not as intense.

Could this be some kind of a little herx?

thank you,

kc, describe what you mean by"spongy". I get the pains that you speak of, espec. when taking ax for sinusitis. It's usually worst when I first get up from sleeping. It seems fleeting also.
Curious, isn't it?

Hello KC,

I hope you got the information I sent you, because the first email was just returned.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by spongy either, but perhaps it is just a turn of phrase!

In answer to your question, though, I can only say 'maybe'. It seems quite likely, though. You must add the azithromycin, though. I added roxithromycin after three weeks with no difference in anything. You must do it, though, to avoid the development of resistance!

Don't stint on the antioxidant adjuncts, either. I might sound bossy, but you will get through it all easier if you do this. Honestly.

Take care,

Sarah :)

kc, Just as a side note, I have been on zithro, mino [and now doxy instead] for over two wks, and today I got this sudden shooting kind of pain that you speak of. It happened in one leg[at home, luckily], and I actually dropped
down to the floor, somehow only onto one knee. It was quick, and I was able to get myself right back up from the floor fairly easily.

Trying to break the feeling into understandable segments, I think what happens is 2 things:
1). The episode of sudden fleeting/ bone pain[or muscle?]
is quickly followed by
2). A brisk reaction of a clonus-like reflex, while I am standing, resulting in my fall.

I did not hurt myself, in fact I kind of chuckled about the fact the my 4 cats had all scattered across the room, frightened--one with her sharp little claws still dug deeply into the sofa cushion LOL! :).

It is so helpful to be able to compare treatment results with others on this board.
Thanks!
Kitkat2 :)
