HI friends my name is seeva and one of my m.s friends send me a news that next thursday august 23rd in ABC1 TV PROGRAM CATALYST at 8.00pm talking about that some doctors believe m.s triggered by an infection which can be treated if diagnosed early enough. Please watch

Catalyst is an Australian science programme and they have interviewed both my husband, David Wheldon, MB FRCPath and myself as the patient last December. Now they have added Paul Thibault, the phlebologist who thought that ccsvi was not the complete answer, plus a surprise guest who Maryanne had to ply with liquor. So, not to be missed!

Actually I wasn't diagnosed until I had had the disease for twenty years, so obviously I have some old deficits but nothing new at all.

This was interesting.
I didn't read so much about Cpn before but this theory makes sense. (yet another)
I expected something on gut bacterias which have also strong evidence for other doctors.

Anyways, pending an official treatment, I take 1 clove of raw garlic every morning as I read it is a good natural antibiotic (as well as vitamine D). My great grandmother from Italy has done it a large part of her life and lived long.

Yes, I was half expecting Borody to be there as well, but he was on Catalyst last year: look him up in their archives.
If you want to wait for an official treatment it will take years and years so try two cloves of garlic a day!

I have just watched ABC Catalyst program about MS being possibly triggered by chlamydia pneumoniae.

Around 2000 (aged 60) I had an MRI and the neurologist told me I had brain lesions suggesting MS but nothing happened for 10 years. In April 2010 my husband and I went on a trip to Egypt and then onto Russia and UK. After a trip down the Nile, I became ill with a bug of some description leading to severe dose of the 'trots' and my husband came down sick a few days later. Arriving in Russia I had to seek medical treatment and was given antibiotics and probiotics. After a couple of days my symptoms improved and I was OK for the rest of the trip and return to Australia. My husband became very ill in UK and had to seek medical treatment for the 'trots' and haematuria. With antibiotics he got better. Fast forward to the beginning of 2011 and I started to get lethargic, unsteady gait, disorientated, and was finding I had to spend more time in bed. I had three episodes that found me going to Emergency outpatients In Canberra hospital. Since these episodes I have had an additional MRI and seen 3 neurologists - one said I had MS, one said I didn't have MS because the lesions are not in the right part of the brain and the other said I probably didn't have MS but he has no idea what I do have. Whilst I have improved from mid 2011, I still have numbness in my legs and can't drive a car, am still unbalanced, suffer vertigo and a range of other issues that are affecting my lifestyle. In Egypt, before getting sick, I was striding ahead of husband in 45C heat at Abu Simbel but by 2011 I was struggling to walk 100metres.

Clamydia pneumoniae seems to be fairly prevalent in Egypt as judged by the number of scientific papers published in Egyptian journals. My husband and I spent some time in the pool on the boat in Egypt which I imagine got its water from the Nile and was treated. We also ate differently but tried to steer clear of salads and fruit that were washed in local water but there remains the possibility of the bug being clamydia pneumoniae. The question that arises is whether I should address the issue of taking an antibiotic regime with my GP? Anyone know of any GP's in Canberra that might be on-side to this treatment.
