4 Months In

Couldn't find a MD locally interested in persuing this protocol but was lucky enough to find a naturopath. Got my results back from igene-x labs testing positive for cpn. Went on Doxy 100mg each day for the first month and in the second month the Doxy and Azithromycin 250 mg Mon, Wed, and Fri. In the third month I returned to Doxy 100mg each day only and at the 4 month added the Azithromycin the same way I did in the second. In two weeks I start the pulse of flagyl. As far as Nac is concerned I started at 600mg a day and am now up to 1200mg. Symptoms have not been an issue all along until recently when my feet feel like there going to explode with stomach cramps periodically as well. Actually the most annoying symptom is the constant feeling of wanting to visit the washroom. Been on a diet of gluten free products minimal fat intake and no alchohol. I was diagnosed in 1986 with MS and the last time I saw neuro years ago he suggested my disease was secondary progressive. I guess I just wanted to lay it all out to see if anyone thinks I should be doing something different. I'm commited to finishing this process. Thanxs in advance.

Hello Marcopolo, four months in is fine to be thinking of starting flagyl, but only if you are taking doxycycline at full dose which is 200mg a day, and azithromycin three times a week, every week: taking a month off seems like a very strange idea.

I presume you have read this? - http://www.davidwheldon.co.uk/ms-treatment.html

Hi Sarah
Thankyou for your reply. I have increased my Doxy to 200mg per day. Does it matter if I take them all at the same time? Also when would you suggest
staring the fagyl? Thankyou in advance.

As I said, start flagyl only when you are taking the full dose of doxy et al and when you are getting no reactions from them. I started at about three months only because of this: you will regret it if you start differently. You might feel after the first pulse of flagyl that this is a breeze: I did, but you might feel differently with subsequent pulses.

You can take all the doxy in one go: I did after a few weeks because it makes life easier!

Best of luck!!

Sarah

Hi Marcopolo
I have just seen your post and I hope you are getting on OK with Flagyl. I did the Swank diet before starting abx and I have to say I think it contributed to my illness becoming more aggressive (though I know some do well on the diet). I think fat soluble vitamins as well as phospholipids and cholesterol are all important in maintaining a healthy immune system and in repairing neurological damage so the low fat thing does not really make sense to me now.
The abx have made a huge difference - I would recommend that everyone should give them a go.
