UTI cipro and taking a break

Hello, just asking advice. My husband had a roaring UTI, now it is purring. He is taking Cipro for it, and feeling awful for himself, so for a few days he has been off the regular protocol. Is that okay? Can he, once feeling better, take the doxy, roxy and Cipro, or is it too much for the liver?
Some maybe good news...he had a new MRI, but a different machine and doctor reading the results. The dr did not see anything on the spine, just a bit on the right side of the brain and nothing active. Now, we can't find the original MRI(we moved several times in the last 3 or 4 years), BUT we both remember the doctor then saying the main lesion was on the spine with a couple in the brain. Mind you, my husband walks worse, and still has problems down there, but maybe once this UTI is over we might see an improvement? He also has not gotten enough physio, which he intends on doing, but don't bring up the topic with him, if you value your life.....
We were pleased with the news, anyhow.
