I convinced my mom to give the ABX protocol a try.
She was diagnosed in 2001 with PPMS. On top of that she has Morbus Addison and Hashimoto-Thyreoiditis.
Her current EDSS is about 2.5 - 3.0, the progression was slow but continuous.

Most pronounced symptoms are significant fatigue and muscle weakness, some balance and gait issues including foot drop on the right side.

She started NAC (1200mg) on Nov 2nd, added 100mg Minocycline on Nov. 9th and increased to 200mg Minocycline since Nov 14th.

Today we decided to go back to 100mg Minocycline because she experienced really heavy fatigue and (maybe because of that) more pronounced balance and gait problems.

Frank, I am very glad that you mother has decided to try this. I wish hr well with it. I think it very wise to reduce the minocycline at least for a while mainly because if it is affecting her balance she is more likely to fall and injure herself. Maybe before long the heavy fatigue will be less, hopefully leading to better balance and gait. From my experience I know that if I am really tired my balance goes skew-whiff.

My mom takes the 100mg Minocycline before going to bed, so that she can sleep through the episodes of fatgue.
She is pretty much worried about the side-effects of a long term ABX treatment and will therefore have her blood tested every week (as it is recommended in the package insert).

Just wanted to update, that my mom now added Roxythromycin to her regime and tolerates it quite well. So far so good...

Has she seen any improvements in her MS symptoms yet?

No, unfortunately there have not been any improvements. Additionally she does not tollerate the ABX that well, so I think shes not going to take them for too much longer...

My mom had some pretty bad gastro-intestinal issues (maybe not related to the ABX). But as she did not see any improvements and overall felt rather worse than better she decided to no longer continue the ABX regime.

She is rather reluctant when it comes to taking any drugs so I think its a success that she gave it a try at all to find out whether she would experience a fast an significant response, as some lucky people do.

Hi Frank, I had Hashimotos as well, the reason I am saying had is because since taking LDN my antibodies to my thyroid (TPO ones) have gone back to normal. Maybe your mum could try LDN. Go carefully though if she still has stomach issues x
