There is an interesting article about a genetic link in MS with some references to how statins may help MS for people with the genetic susceptibility.

Thanks for the article, gkalman. I had read another similar one, but yours is a better summary.

I am very interested in statins. I have CIS (Clinically Isolated Syndrome), which manifested itself as a bout of optic neuritis last December (although in putting the pieces together, I also had numbness in fingertips and part of my right foot last year, which happily cleared up after a 3-day course of solumedrol).

As it turns out, I'm meeting with Dr. Emmanuelle Waubant of the UCSF MS Center next week. She's one of the researchers conducting a study on CIS and statins. Although I don't qualify for the study, I'm very interested in what she has to say about it and will share what I learn.

What is your MS situation and interest in statins?

My wife was dx'd earlier this year. Guess, I am still in the phase where I'm looking at everything.

Her cholesterol levels are relatively high. So, may be I'm looking/hoping for a cure-all.
